Mama Maven
To my best friend
Updated: Sep 25, 2021

Throughout my lifetime, friends have come and gone, but there's one person I can always count on to be there for me. My best friend Kim. We've known each other for nearly 43 years!
We met when my family moved from Oklahoma to Texas in the late 70s. I fondly remember riding my bike down the street when I noticed a pretty little blonde girl who looked about my age. She was on her roller skates. So, I promptly went into the garage and put my skates on. She had the same idea and returned on her bike. As they say, the rest is history!
In honor of her birthday this year, her sister asked me to put together a video greeting because, due to Covid, it wasn't safe to get together. So, I got to work immediately and wrote a poem that chronicled our friendship. Then, I enlisted the help of my talented and sweet husband who came up with the brilliant idea to create a stop-motion video using our daughter's Calico Critters with me narrating the poem. It was a painstaking process! As the hip folks say―if you know, you know.
We loved how it turned out and so did she!
